THE COMPLETE MUSIC INDUSTRY PATHWAY

This course is 4 days a week for 19 weeks.

Who is this course for?

Young People (16-18) who lack formal qualifications and have an interest in finding out how the music industry works through putting on a showcase event for local young talent and by learning how to produce and record their own music using a professional recording studio. Students will build confidence and contacts, gain a formal qualification and practical experience.

What will I study?

Event promotion - Press, Publicity and Sponsorship - Song writing and production - Music technology - Literacy - Numeracy - Information Technology (IT) - Citizenship. You will receive support and guidance throughout the course, helping you to progress on to the right course or find a job once you have competed your studies.

MUSIC PRODUCTION AND BUSINESS PATHWAY

This course is 4 days a week for 19 weeks.

Who is this course for?

Young People (16-18) who lack formal qualifications and who have an interest in find out how the music industry works through producing and recording their own music usung a professional recording studio. Students will learn about the business side of releasing a record, build confidence and contacts, gain a formal qualification and practical experience.

What will I study?

Studio skills - Sampling - Mixing - Recording artists - Song writing - Literacy - Information Technology (IT) - Music Business - Contracts and record labels. You will receive support and guidance throughout the course, helping you to progress on to the right course or find a job once you have competed your studies.

MULTIMEDIA AND JOURNALISM PATHWAY

This course is 3 and a half days a week for 19 weeks.

Who is this course for?

Young People (16-18) who lack formal qualifications and who have an interest in multimedia(video, photography, design) and want to find out more about journalism through writing, designing and editing a magazine for young people. Students will build confidence and contacts, gain a formal qualification and practical experience.

What will I study?

Journalism, the magazine context - Magazine production - Reviewing - Advertising - Sales, marketing and budget - Photograhic journalism - Introduction to photography - Darkroom skills - Video production - English - Numeracy - Information Technology (IT) - Citizenship. You will receive support and guidance throughout the course, helping you to progress on to the right course or find a job once you have competed your studies.


Entry Requirements

For any of the above pathways ther will be an interview and assessment.
